Welcome to Berlin Baseball & Softball
The Berlin Baseball Association is one of 20+ Little Leagues chartered within Massachusetts District 4, which is part of Little League Baseball, Inc.
Softball Program
Berlin Softball has merged with Boylston Softball to provide a better opportunity for our girls starting at age six. For more information please visit their website at www.boylstonsoftball.org.
That being said we do encourage the Girls to start up in Berlin Baseball league.
This way they start to get an understanding of the game, and know everyone around them as classmates/friends.
When they reach the AAA Level, usually age 9 they can jump over to the Boylston Softball team.
Baseball Program
Berlin Baseball offers Little League baseball to all boys and girls of ages 4 to 12 living in Berlin, Mass.
Note: “Little League age” is based on child’s age as of August 30th of current year.
Our program consists of the following levels of play:
A Ball
T-Ball. The teams in the A Ball division are generally 5 and 6yo. Our A Ball division focuses on baseball fundamentals such as: hitting, fielding and throwing.
AA Ball
Coach/Pitch- The teams in the AA Ball division are generally 7 and 8yo with at least one year of A Ball experience. In AA, the focus continues to be on fundamentals such as hitting, fielding and throwing and players are introduced to live coach pitching and more of a traditional 'baseball game'.
AAA / Minor Ball
Berlin, Boylston and WB integrated teams made up of some 8s, but mostly 9, 10 and 11yo.
LL / Major Ball
Berlin, Boylston, and WB integrated teams made up of some 10s, but mostly 11 and 12yo.
Every players of age 8 and up is expected to participate in Tryouts, if they are looking to move up to AAA and LL. The ages listed above are typical and should be used as a guideline. It is possible for a player of age 7, who has played LL baseball from age 5, to be considered for AAA Minors. It is also possible for a player of age 12 to be placed on a AAA Minor team, if this is his first year of LL baseball. It's a matter of baseball experience/skills.
The purpose of the tryouts is to determine skill levels and placement of a player in a divisions where they can develop and be successful.
The league is committed to making little league the most positive experience possible for each player. That starts with determining current skills and making sure a player is placed where they can grow.
Season:
Games run from late April to mid June.
